How the Partnership Began

The collaboration between Kibimba Hospital and Friends of Kibimba Hospital began in the early 2000s, when members of the Evangelical Friends Church – Mid America Yearly Meeting started visiting Burundi. During these visits, they witnessed both the dedication of the hospital staff and the urgent need for improved infrastructure, equipment, and medical support.

Moved by the hospital’s mission and the needs of the surrounding community, these partners envisioned a long-term relationship built on faith, friendship, and shared commitment. In the fall of 2006, Friends of Kibimba Hospital was officially formed to mobilize resources, prayer support, and financial assistance for the continued development of the hospital.

Since its establishment, Friends of Kibimba Hospital has brought together churches, medical professionals, volunteers, and individual donors who share a common goal: to strengthen healthcare services in Kibimba.
