Patient Care at Kibimba Hospital
Every day, Kibimba Hospital serves a large number of patients from the surrounding communities who depend on the hospital for essential medical care.
On an average day, the hospital provides care for:
• 30 children seen in pediatric outpatient services
• 30 women seeking obstetric and gynecological care
• 40 adult patients in the internal medicine clinic
• 50 patients in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) services including immunizations and preventive care
• 50 patients receiving care through the HIV clinic
• 50 surgical consultations in the surgical clinic
• About 50 emergency cases through the casualty department
These services are currently provided by a small medical team consisting of three medical officers and one surgeon who work tirelessly to serve the community.
Due to the shortage of physicians, inpatient wards are sometimes supervised by experienced nurses who coordinate closely with doctors when medical decisions are required.
Our vision is to strengthen the hospital workforce, improve diagnostics, and expand specialty services so that Kibimba Hospital can grow into a strong regional referral and teaching hospital.
Call to Action:
Physicians, nurses, educators, churches, and organizations are invited to partner with Kibimba Hospital to strengthen healthcare services for the people of Burundi.
